Propylene Fraction

About Propylene Fraction

Propane Propylene Fraction

The propane-propylene fraction is a liquefied hydrocarbon gas consisting of propane, propylene and other both lighter and heavier hydrocarbons. The structure of the fraction is characterized as follows: Propylene has the main mass fraction and for different grades it ranges from 25% to 65%. C2 hydrocarbons may represent as little as 2% to 6%, depending on the grade. C4 hydrocarbons are allowed from 5% to 8% by weight. Heavier hydrocarbons C5 and above are either not allowed at all, or in grade B are allowed in amounts up to 1%. Sulphur compounds may be present in an amount from 0.002 to 0.02% by weight. Free water and alkalis are not allowed. Scope of Application Fraction is a raw material for various petrochemical reactions. It is not a commercial product, all applications are connected with further synthesis of the following substances: – Isopropylbenzene – Acrylic acid – Isopropanol Also used for catalytic hydration and pyrolysis reactions and for production of polymer distillate.
