High Polyethylene

About High Polyethylene

High-pressure (low-density) polyethylene produced by high-pressure polymerisation of ethylene in tubular reactors and stirred-tank reactors using radical-type initiators. High-pressure polyethylene (HPP) is formed under the following conditions: 1)temperature 200-260 °C; 2)pressure of 150-300 MPa; 3) the presence of an initiator (oxygen or organic peroxide); The product is produced in autoclave or tube reactors. The reaction is carried out by the radical mechanism. The polyethylene produced by this method has an average molecular weight of 80,000-500,000 and a degree of crystallinity of 50-60%. The liquid product is subsequently pelletised. The reaction takes place in the melt.
