The alfamethylstyrene fraction is a by-product of the production of phenol and acetone via isopropylbenzene hydroperoxide (cumene method). It is used for the production of commercial α-methylstyrene and other purposes.

Note | If a phenolic stabiliser is added, the total phenol and stabiliser content in terms of phenol for the top grade must not exceed 0.002%, for grades 1 and 2 not more than 0.003%. |
Packaging, transport and storage: | Alfamethylstyrene fraction is transported in bulk in tank wagons and bunker wagons for the transport of petroleum bitumen. |
